Bette Perot, philanthropist and former St. Mark&#;s School Board of Trustees member, has died at
Perot was the older sister of the late billionaire and one-time presidential candidate Ross Perot. She died at her home on Jan. 3, surrounded by family, according to her obituary.
The Texarkana native served as vice president of the Perot Foundation for 26 years and also made an impact on the Dallas nonprofit scene, including the North Texas Food Bank and C.C. Young Community.
Among her years of service, she earned the nickname &#;Aunt Bette&#; from the communities she served but had no children of her own.
&#;Bette was among the first supporters of the Food Bank’s mission and played a critical role in our year history. She served on the NTFB board of directors until and was named a Life Board Member,&#; North Texas Food Bank shared on its blog.
Perot was also an educator. After graduating from Texas Christian University, she started teaching at Fort Worth schools before advancing to vice principal positions.
